What's it like to rent a wood-fired hot tub boat?

Arrival: Plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your booking time so that you have time to change into your bathing suit. There is free first-come first-serve street parking, or easy drop-off if you are using a ride-share service. When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff members and digitally sign a waiver, if you haven’t already pre-signed.

Let’s get ready: You will have an opportunity to use the restrooms and then proceed to our custom-built floating changing area, where we have two separate changing rooms, along with secure storage space for your belongings you want to stay dry. 

Let’s get soaking: Your wood-fired hot tub boat awaits! While you start soaking, that same friendly staff member will give you an overview of how the boat works and a brief safety speech and teach you how to drive the boat.

Let’s get out on the water: You are now ready to explore Lake Union in the comfort of a wood-fired hot tub! Take in the views of the Seattle skyline, the Space Needle and Gas Works park. Explore the unique floating homes along the east and west sides of the lake. Enjoy the thrill of a sea plane taking off or landing over head!

Planning for an experience of a lifetime

You’ve booked a hot tub boat trip, now what? Plan ahead! Here’s everything you need to know to have an enjoyable experience.

Here’s what we provide for you:

  • Towels
  • Water bottle (1 per guest)
  • Waterproof Bluetooth speaker
  • Waterproof phone cases
  • Restrooms and a changing area

Here’s a list of items you must bring:

  • A bathing suit – if you are from out of town and didn’t pack a suit, no problem! It’s perfectly fine to wear athletic shorts, t-shirt, or some other kind of top that mimics a bathing suit. ?

Other items that are allowed on boat:

  • Any other beverages – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted, though we do ask that you refrain from bringing any glass containers on the boat for safety reasons. 
  • Snacks — however please note that we do not have waterproof storage on the boat, so please do plan your snack choices accordingly!

Responding to COVID-19

Safety is always our top priority at Lake Union Hot Tub Boats. We are actively monitoring guidance from the CDC and King County Public Health to ensure we are keeping our staff and guests safe. We are implementing additional environmental cleaning procedures to ensure that all public spaces are cleaned frequently.

Our standard cleaning procedures for the hot tub boats — fresh water for every trip, cleaning the boats before and after every trip — are already aligned with the current guidance and we will continue to monitor the situation to ensure we are following the most up to date recommendations and keeping our community safe.

FAQs

Effective September 12th, our pricing is $400 plus tax on weekdays and $450 plus tax on weekends.

We heat the water to 104 degrees. It’s a wood-fired hot tub so you will have the ability to manually change the temperature if it gets too hot or not hot enough.

Ages 2 and up are allowed. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone under age 12 must bring their own life vest.

6 people – a person includes: a human at any age/life-stage (yes, children are people too). Per Coast Guard requirements, we can only have 6 people in the boat.

We love accommodating larger groups! We currently have the capacity to rent out two boats at the same time to accommodate up to 12 people. Just select 2 boats when you make your booking.

No. Our reservations are for a maximum of 6 people. Each person signs a waiver. We will not allow a group to have more than 6 signed waivers. You cannot have other people join your group at any point during your reservation.

We do not allow pets of any kind to join you in the hot tub boat.

Anyone aged 18+ can rent a wood-fired hot tub boat.

Soaking in a hot tub when pregnant is not recommended. While it is possible to sit on the side of the boat, with just your feet and legs in the hot water, fully submerging yourself in the water is not recommended.

Things happen and we get it! Full refunds are offered if you need to cancel 7 days prior to your trip. For less than 7 days prior to your trip, we do not offer refunds. We operate rain or shine. We monitor the weather and make day-of determinations regarding safety. Should we decide to cancel your trip due to weather-related reasons, we will reach out to you on the day of your booking and discuss options to reschedule.

Here at Lake Union Hot Tub Boats we believe that most days are perfect for hot tub boat rides! Our guests have great experiences no matter the weather – rain, sun, even the occasional snow flurry! However, safety is always our top priority and if we experience lightning storms or other weather conditions that we deem unsafe, we may have to cancel your trip. Should we need to cancel, we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss options to reschedule.

No, there is not. The hot tub boat has two built-in storage areas for your drinks, snacks, speaker, etc. They offer easy access to anything you might need during your trip, but they do not offer protection from the water.  Our Hot Tub Boats offer a full immersion experience.  You will definitely get wet! Whatever you bring on the boat with you will likely get wet! We do have 100% dry, secure storage in the changing area for you to safely leave your belongings behind.

We run a very tight schedule trying to prepare the boat for the next guests. If you bring the boat back later than 15 minutes you’ll be charged a $100 late fee plus an extra $100 for every 15 minutes after that. We do not have the ability to extend your rental time for any reason.

You will be responsible for any damage on a case-by-case basis. We offer damage protection that can be purchased when you make your reservation for $50 per trip.

Our office number is posted on the boat and you can give us a call at any time. We can usually walk you through any issues but we also have a boat to provide as-needed support!

There is a gravel parking strip on N. Northlake Way and it is free back-angle parking, first come first serve. It can be tricky to find parking spots at times and if you are worried, feel free to Uber/Lyft or bike to our convenient location.

We use North Idaho Energy Logs. They are a warmer, greener, and cleaner source of wood fuel. North Idaho Energy Logs produce more heat from 100% natural recycled wood and cut emissions by more than 50%!
